I have never done a portrait with glasses.
Do these look correct? I don't think I can carve them open, or I would.

| | Re: Double Portrait , Opinions/suggestions I usually get in to trouble voiceing my opinion , so, What I could see of the face, Yes, pretty much right on. I think it would be hard to show a person with glasses on their face.
However, I do like the blanket over Abe Lincoln's lap and knees. Nice effect! Nice relief!
You have definitely come in to your own with these Relief carving Ash. Excellent carvings. |

you told me two things , first the portrait is representive of the subject and they look right.
Sorry for the other pic but I was working on the perspective here is a bit better closeup of the head.
And thanks for the compliment I know I am enjoying them.

Ash | the angle isn't quite right, the right eye frame needs to be a bit higher or the left eye fram a bit lower, the perspective is off just a bit. imo |

| | Re: Double Portrait , Opinions/suggestions Hi Ash, this is a terrific relief portrait. I do have one observation and it might be that is how it looks in the picture you are using. It appears to me that the right eye glass ear piece doesn't come up over the right ear.

Your right, and when I first started the work on this I was surpized as well. So I really looked to see if the portrait had been re-touched and the frame shorten or just removed from the picture.
This is a copy of an orginial photo taken by Mathew Brady in 1864. And from what I can tell it was not a touched up photo. The glasses frame do not show as being over the ear only disappearing into his hair line.
This is a very a-typical photo. And one of the few I personally like.
Ash
And Kenny sorry mate but it isn't a blanket |

| | Re: Double Portrait , Opinions/suggestions Ash ... the glass area is right and in perspective ... but the ear curve of the wire frames should go all the way back to roll over his ears ....! Right now the wire rim rolls are perched on his side burns, I think.
I know that old wire rims roll tightly but ... I think you need to take them back further before you have that much roll.
