Default "Don't Get My Goat!"

Here's a photo of my little Boar Goat which I carved yesterday. He's part of a commission I'm working on. Although this job isn't due till December I've decided, as this will be the last commission I'll ever accept.....EVER!, to go ahead and get it behind me so I can concentrate on projects of my own. I think he turned out pretty well.

I still have to do a Burro, a few Chickens, plus a figure or two.

Nice job! Are the horns and tail inserted for strength or is it carved as one piece?

Great job on the goat Lynn, but I must ask.......why no more commissions? I enjoy carving what I enjoy to carve, and commissions aren't usually it, but they do make you expand your skills to areas that you may not normally cover. Just curious.

What a SWEET CARVING!!!

Why is this your last commissioned piece? Too much pressure?

Whatever the reason, your client should be thrilled with the results!!

Doug....Yep! The horns and Tail are add-ons. Commissions put me in the position of having to do something! I've had a problem with that ever since I was a kid (goat?) While they might expand ones horizons they only seem to expand my disgust with myself for accepting it in the first place. Unfortunately, she was an attractive ladly and my knees went weak and I........well you get the picture? Seems the older we get the more us older guys become suseptible to a younger ladies influence. This reminds me of one of the most positive things I'm experiencing about getting older.

When I was a really young man...say 18-25, my "window of appreciation" with regard to checking out the opposite gender was quite narrow. However, as I grew in age this "window" expanded right along with the number of my birthdays. Ain't life great?

Maybe I should have titled this post "You Dirty Old Goat!"

Baa-aa-aa-aa....

Commissions can be a pain, so just keep jacking the price up. If they want it bad enough to pay a ridiculously high price, well, why not?
