Hi folks! Been a W-H-I-L-E since I've been here. Hope you all are well & enjoying the summer. Here's a dog I just finished for someone. It's from Tom Wolfe's book "Tom Wolfe goes to the dogs", but it probably looks different as I don't own the book! My carvin' buddy "Wild Bill" Rought gave me the cut out, but nothing else to go by. I was thinking of getting the book, but decided to "do my own thing" & not copy tom's work {couldn't if I tried ANYHOW! HA!} Hope you like it. Happy Whittlin' ! )Whittlin' Will | Facebook |

Nicely done! I especially like the tail carriage. How big is the base he's sniffing on?

Thanks Rook! The base is 4&1/4 X 2&7/8ths. an oval from Michael's crafts made of 1/8th inch plywood. Also, forgot to mention that I used a sewing needle, raking it into the wood to get the "fur". That was my own idea. Worked great on a rabbit pin I made for easter, but not sure I like how it worked out here. oh well. Thanks again. ![]() www.facebook.com/whittlin.will |

Ah, ok. Just asking about the base to get dimensions of the pup. That needle idea, I'll log that to memory for later usage. I had a thought in a similar vein of using a clean new metal bristle brush, althought it might leave metal particles behind. Maybe something like a carding comb? I think the effect works well on this piece. TJ.

Nice work! Can't go wrong with Tom Wolfe as your teacher.
