| | What do you see? A friend of mine has built a cabin/house on a lake locally. He has built the house out of Pine, Cedar, and Cypress rough sawn boards. It is very rustic. All the walls inside are one of the three rough cut boards as well. He finished his living room ceiling in old tin from a barn. Wood burning stove and the works.
I would like to do a wood carving for him.
I am attaching two boards. The first is a pc of pine 24" + wide the second is a pc of cedar about 4 feet long by 1 foot wide.
He wants a pc to hang in his living room.
I have some ideas for the Cedar but none yet for the Pine. I would love to hear what you see in this wood......
For the Cedar, I see a mountain range on the left flowing into a prairie which ends in a creek or river. I am thinking about putting buffalo on the plain and down by the creek.

| | Re: What do you see? Geez....isn't it obvious?
The first is a ship headed towards shore with breaking waves and rocks on the far right side. Perhaps a ship in distress being blown on to a lee shore.
The second is a birds eye view of a schooner under full sail, slicing through the waves!
Am I the only one who see's these things? Sorry, can't help it, it's what I am!

| | Re: What do you see? The first piece looks to me to be similar to one of the mantels: On the left is a man cutting down a tree, then he's cutting it into lumber, then building a cabin, and finally, the finished cabin.
The second piece is definitely on the lake, with the top half being the scene, and the bottom half the reflection in the lake. The scene, of course, is of the cabin and surrounding area as viewed from a couple of hundred yards out in the lake.

| | Re: What do you see? I see much the same as Wade, only a prairie schooner ( pioneers) scene on the cedar, instead of the horses, and the pine board has a knot that looks like an eye. That would make a nice sign board, "Welcome, we've been keeping an eye open for ya" |

| | Re: What do you see? I like your original idea, some of the others are good too.I flipped the pine upside down and saw a duck or a goose head, maybe a loon,if you have those there. Definately a water scene with that grain. I'd post it flipped for you but i screwed it up once already lol. |
