Default Distracted by a new addition to the family.

Hi folks,

I have been otherwise occupied over the past month or so, and haven't posted very often, but hopefully things will return to normal soon. Our youngest daughter gave birth to her first child, a little girl, Hailey Lynn, and we have been back and forth to her place quite a bit. Hailey was born on the 7th of June and Mother and Daughter are both doing well.

I had a great opportunity to get some quality carving time in as we awaited the arrival at the hospital, and what better carving to celebrate the blessed event but that of a baby. Our daughter use to sleep on her knees when she was a baby so I am attempting to create a likeness of a baby asleep in this position.

I could use some help ..... I am having a difficult time getting a baby's face to have that soft, infant look to it. Have a look and please offer your suggestions, I could use them. I've never carved a baby before.

Thanks,

Bob

If I ever carved something that nice, I sure wouldn't try to change it.
I studied those photos (thanks for them) and one of the photos made the nose look a bit too long but the others show it just about perfect.

Many congratulations and hugs for the grand daughter and the same for such fine carving.

Excellent news Bob! The carving is a very sweet pose for the baby. No suggestions to improve. It looks like a baby's face to me.

Congratulations Bob on your newest addition to the family! She's gorgeous! I remember holding my grand daughter like that when she was little...miss it tooo! Now she's 14 and look and acts like an adult...love her dearly, but miss her being little and cuddly like that...nothing in the world like a new baby!!! Enjoy her like that while you can!!!! As far as the carving...it certainly looks great to me - love how you captured her sleeping pose....
Enjoy and congratulations again!
