Here's the pix of my first flat plane again, only this time I added some color (not really a good painter) comments welcome, I will spray him at a later date.

Thanks for the comments guys. Gene was good enough to send me a PM to suggest how I might make a bad paint job look a whole lot better so I hope to improve this guy some more, I'm really not satisfied with the wishy washy look of him at the moment.

Cliff, I knew you could do it! You've come a long way since Christmas my friend! Great work on the little guy!

One suggestion, you may want to water your paint down just a little more to make it less chalky and more of a wash. That way people can tell that it is wood under there instead of plastic. Other than that, I think he looks great!

Cliff, he looks pretty darn good to me. There are a few areas that could be improved, but I think you'll find the "fixes". One good thing about carving and painting, when you are not quite satisfied, there is always time to look for a way to improve things. Also, you mentioned the "wishy-washy" appearance? You will be surprised how your colors will POP when you put the finishing varnish or poly on that little guy.

When I started painting fish, I was really disappointed in the colors as I painted, and had to learn to anticipate the colors and hues that would shine through when the finish was applied. At least that's true with the acrylic paints. There are subtle changes as the paints dry, and then some more critical changes with the finishing. Once you learn to anticipate the final hues, painting becomes a bit more satisfying. Be patient!
