Default cypress knee santa

here is my santa almost ready for painting. it is from the whittling special, I am certainly getting my $$'s worth out of that issue!

That would be my ancient Blackberry camera... when I get it painted I will take a better pic with my Canon and post it to show the details. Its fast and easy with the cellphone but the pics are lousy.

As for the knee, it was fun to carve. I have another, and will probably get more in the future. A nice change of pace!

OK here is a picture taken with my good camera...

I think on this type of carving, with its fairly shallow relief doesnt really pop until it is painted.

Will post finished pics sometime this week...

Very nice Andrew!! As familiar as I am with cypress that one looks a bit different to me. Maybe a different species or perhaps where it was harvested?? Hard to say, but nonetheless you did a fantastic job with it!!!

It looks pretty similar to the one the author of the article used.. this is all new to me so I cant say.

The two I bought from chipping away were pretty similar to what they had in stock... maybe they can say where they came from? I'll ask next time I talk to them.
