Default Cowboy bust.

Cowboy, well almost! Carved this guy out of aspen. The wood was very nice to carve, any mistakes were totally mine. I messed up his upper lip, tried to recover, but finally came to realize, it’s as good as its gonna be. Chicken one day, feathers the next. Was happy with the rest of him though. Feel free to criticize.Thank you for any comments or suggestions.

Good job, can't see anything out of place with the lip and the wood is lovely, Joe.

Thank all of you for the nice comments. Robert, I don't think he will be painted, I usually don't paint. I love to carve, and seem to want to grab a knife, rather than a paint brush. I am going to try to paint some in the future. I have read some of don Mertz stuff on painting, will give it a try. I have seen some beautiful painted carvings on this forum, I need to learn to paint well!

Carl, that is one fine carving to be proud of.

l see a lot of very nice detail and balance.

I hedged on painting my work at first as well, but once you get one or two under your belt, I'd be surprised if you don't impress yourself.

You know if you wouldn't had pointed out the lip mistake... I would have honestly thought it was done on purpose to show he had no teeth on top...as the lip does sink in around the gums if teeth are lost. Just a thought...smile Di
