I like the sound of the dipping in oil finish method. May give it a try.
No it isn't Lynn's pattern. I have a small (perhaps 6" x 6") book of boots. Used one of the boots in the book for a pattern.

I'm doing another pair now with a "shotgun" top from the same pattern with a stretched top. (maybe called "barrel" ?)

I'll post when one or the other is painted or now more likely dipped in stain.

I'm getting way behind on painting. I think I have 5 carvings waiting on me now. Beginning to feel guilty about putting it off for so long. But not yet guilty enough to do anything about it. Ha, Ha !
