| | A Cow Pony Here's a little cow pony I finished up carving today. The wife was out working with her new horse so I thought I'd work with this one. I think mine was a little more cooperative than hers as she came in the shop a little later cussing.
He's about 3/4 size the one I did on the Blog. Probably use him in another Horses for Rent scene. Still have to add the finer detail, i.e., rear cinch, bit, slicker, etc.
I have another larger one in process which I think I will put a rider on. Might be a good project for the Blog to show how I carve and mount the rider into the saddle.
Anyway, comments always welcome. |

| | Re: A Cow Pony Lynn .. that wood burning really brings out the imagine of the piece .. I know you will paint it ... but the raw look really shows the wonderful detail you add to so many of your pieces ..
Great job

| | Re: A Cow Pony Very nice Lynn. One question, how long does it take you to get to that point. I know it would take me months and still not be able to do what you do. |

| | Re: A Cow Pony It's hard to say just exactly how long it takes to do a complete horse as I have several in the works at the same time. If you could look at my workbench you'd see bodies and parts laying all over the place. I've never sat down and tried to do a figure completely all the way through to the end and I don't plan on ever doing that. However, if for some reason I did it would probably take me about 6 to 8 hours to reach the stage in the above photo but it wouldn't be any fun. The important thing to me to how much enjoyment I have in doing a piece. If I'm doing something I've done before it takes longer because the excitement is not there. Give me a project with a challenge I haven't faced before and I can really get charged up and the chips come off as fast as a branch going through a wood chipper! |

| | Re: A Cow Pony Lynn, I just love your little cow pony's. The way you carve those long legs and the hoofs are so great. Well, it's actually the whole carving that you do so well. Yes, please add your larger pony with rider to your Blog.

| | Re: A Cow Pony Thanks Kathy. Will do on the rider. Right now I'm in the process of photographing the steps I take to create a scene for the Cowpony which will be my next Blog entry. |
