They are clearing a lot of land here in northern VA. I always try to check out the brush pile they have dozed up.
Found a tree with a vine wrapped around it. Didn't know exactly what to do with it other than take it home.

Tom, There wasn't any leaves on this stick. I was laying on the ground with a dead vine around it. If it is like the ones around it, Elm would be my guess. Was it hard, No really as I did not allow it to dry completely. Now the cane topper was basswood.
Thank you Tom for bringing it to my attention as I have been trying to add what type of wood and I think I said at the beginning I did not know what type it was. But answered Your question above.
