| | Re: Cottonwood Bark(finished carving) Mark, the feather placement is just the right touch, great job, really a fantastic looking face, great character, love viewing your work. My vote is for a natural finish in your normal style. Bill |

That is one great carving.
I know you added the feather, did it come from the same piece of bark?
I vote for a natural finish too, but then again you do such a great job with adding just the right mount of color so..........glad it's not my decision
I still haven't put a finish on my indian mask although I did find your step-by-step finishing technique for finishing (Blackpowder) in a thread in the finishing forum. I think I'm going to use it and go with natural no color. |

I think a natural finish would look great on your Indian Mask. Then again, splashing some color in there would also look great, either way you decide, it's already an awesome carving! |

| | Re: Cottonwood Bark(finished carving) Hey Mark -
Chuck T here (you replied in email to a couple of my questions recently). Really like your mountain man. As I said in email love your carving.
I vote for the natural finish with no color myself. Personally, what I love about cottonwood bark carvings is that blend of rough natural bark with the smooth carved areas. Makes it seem like the image was emerging from the natural material. Adding color to me kind of breaks that illusion. But hey - its a personal thing, so I am sure whatever you decide to do it will be great.
Nice job again!
