Default Completed Native American Indian

Here is the finished product that I posted earlier. I definitely learned a few things along the way. As I indicated in the earlier posting, this is my randition of Jeff Phare's Native American Indian. The book was helpful in parts but I approach the carving quite a bit differently...based on how I was taught - especially the shaping of the face. Now that I see the pics, I see what I would do different the next time. I thought I would see more birds eye coming out of the maple when I added the oil. I'm going back to try another female carving for my next project before going back to my staple - wood spirits. Not sure what I'm going to do with this latest carving. As this is my first time doing this type of carving, I'm not sure what value to put on it. Perhaps it will end up in my office as my vacation ends today - back to the grind Sad

I like it Patrick!
Excellent piece for sure. Love the color of the wood and the finish.

However, I was wondering why you didn't finish putting more wrinkles in his face. Ya done a great job of it around the eyes and upper cheeks on both side.

Patrick,
Excellent carving I just love it. Having taken Jeff Phares course and carved a native I know he would approve of your carving. Your eyes are the sole of your carvings you my friend have excellent eyes.

Thanks everyone. He does have a distinct look on his face. I was going to narrow down his jaw and make his lips smaller but that's what others who saw it liked about him.
