Here's the latest....He's on his way to the paint table. There should be lots of brush work on this one. Did the Cape and Headress with a Dremel and a stoneing wheel. Once that was completed I lit up the propane torch and burnt all the fuzz off..hence the darker coloring on those areas. Really like doing Indians but it's time consuming fitting everything together and then doing the painting. This guy is a border line caricature/realistic piece. The size of this one is taller than I normally make them...about 17" including the base.

Lynn: Looks fantastic, love the detail,Is the wood burning done mainly to catch the shadow areas or is their another reason?

Mark.....The burning makes those areas stand out but also acts as a painting break between colors. Paint won't bleed across a burnt line. Keeps everything sharp.

You must be a power carver to get them done that fast Lynn? But however you do them, they are terrific!

No....don't use any power grinders other than the stoning I did with the Dremel. Did use some large chisels for the robe but mostly just knife work. Since the photos were taken have added a beaded strip which surrounds the middle of the robe. Should look really neat once its painted.
