Doesn't so much resemble a bird as much as it looks like a Chickadee! Nice going Bob,,you're now on your way to being a bird carver as well. Isn't it fun and interesting to add other things to your mix. It makes you see other things differently rather than following a well known path.
Painting,,especially wildfowl can be a real challenge. Painting a character can be anything you want,,and looks fine in whatever colors you choose.But a bird takes it up another notch or two. You got the primary colors right,,in the correct locations and it looks just fine. Nice job! Sit on your deck some more and see which bird shows up ,,there is your next project.

Looks like you did a real good job on it the head kinds of blends in with the background. Enjoyed reading about your taking care of the injured one
