Default Chess set

During the past two weeks I have spent way too much time in the waiting rooms of doctors offices, car repair shops, and shopping malls. However, this time became an opportunity to whittle. This little Wizard and Gnome Chess set is the result of these stolen whittlin minutes. The Pawns/Gnomes are 2 1/2 inches tall. Now I guess I must whittle another bunch to make the set. Any suggestions, for changes???

Tom H

Time well spent! Really clever!

For the opposing side I'd suggest Trolls being as they are the enemys of Gnomes!

Great job tom,.
turned out better than the photo you showed me,
i love the viriaty in the faces of the pawns,

when you get done with this set youll definately be ready to carve a cowboy...

i got a 25 pound bag of mixed sized lead bird shot to fill the bottoms to weight them down so the fan wont rearrange them

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

Nice job Tom. I am working on one myself but am a little further behind as I have three pawns and a castle carved. Just hope mine comes out as good as yours.

Brilliant! I LOVE this idea and the execution is wonderful. I too especially like the variation in the expressions and poses/tools held by the gnomes. I also think Lynn's suggestion of Trolls for the opposing side is an excellent one. Might I also suggest Dragons for the Knights, and evil looking sorcerors for the Bishops?

Anway - best of luck completing the set with whatever you decide to use for the other side. I'm sure it'll be BRILLIANT as well.

Cheers!
