Default Cherry Hairpiece for mask

I know this is going to seem strange, but I made this composite with Photoshop to accurately portray the exact arrangement of all features before I begin detailing the Cherry Hairpiece. Comments?

Pretty neat trick.
The mask is wonderful as it is without hair in my very humble opinion, but I do remember how dramatic the one was you posted before with hair in another wood. The nose and lips on this one are surreal.
The colored eyes in the photoshop image are creepy though.
Your carvings have very professional looking furniture grade finishes on them that really accents the wood, and says "less is more" very clearly.

KCWaterguy,

How old was the Cherry you used in your box? The piece that I am shaping is four years old, very light in color, and harder than my wife's biscuits during the first six months of our marriage. I can only power carve it with my flexcut rotary tools, because it dulled chisels like my teeth after gnawing the aforementioned flower and egg bricks.

Pretty stuff, but very hard...

Wink Re: Cherry Hairpiece for mask

I wish I could tell you how old that Cherry was... that piece was an old (first style) box Russ and the club made and was just "scrap".... once I get it assembled, I don't think it will look like scrap anymore... lol

It is hard, but with Gouge Chip Carving, we are not having to take out hardly any wood especially just with the vertical cuts being a hit with the mallet... so the hard woods work great... and until I got my strop, it did do a number on my gouges.
