| | Chainsaw carver in the making Hi gang,
Well my 14 year old grandson decided that today instead of chasing girls he wanted his grandfather to teach him how to carve with a chainsaw. He is very talented and has done some hand carving before but the girls always seem more important. I guess when I was that age they were too. I dont have any problems still chasing girls I just cant remember what to do with them when I catch them. ROTFL
At any rate I did have his attention for about an hour and this is what he produced so far. After the got this far a pretty young thing stopped by and that was the end of the carving session.
It is a bit of a challenge teaching him not just his attention span but he is left handed. So everything I do with the chainsaw is exactly different for him. Never the less the wood spirit is emerging from the log now I could just find out where he and that young lady went maybe I could get him to finish it. Here are a few pictures of him carving.

| | Re: Chainsaw carver in the making I think he will do great Colin. He has a great teacher. I remember how frustrated I became with my dad when he tried to teach me how he did things he was a lefty also. I think that in the long run helped me I can do almost anything with either hand. Just be patient and he will get it. By the way he may find a girl that likes chainsaw carving too!

| | Re: Chainsaw carver in the making Well done Colin!!! He's got the knack alright! He'll be carving like a pro before you know it.
It is great to see the grandchildren taking up tools and applying themselves to the passion of their grandparents. We must pass on what we can , while we can.
Well done .
