| | Re: Celtic spoon in prog Wow Gilley this is some terrific looking spoon and you stabbed yourself while working on it. Yikkes hope you are OK now. Guess that is part of the hazards of carving. You need one of those leather aprons. I wonder are the spoons such that you could utilize a vise while carving? As you can tell I've never carved a spoon so I really don't know carving positions needed.
Will check back for updates.

| | Re: Celtic spoon in prog All done .. already? I cant wait to see it finished.
I do have a question tho.. how do you get the bottom of the spoon bowls carved even so the thickness is the same all the way under the bowl part?
And hows the leg doing? Did your stitches hold up? |

My home stitch job did'nt fair too well, they came undone over night in bed. Looks like I'll have a bigger scar than I wanted.

| | Re: Celtic spoon in prog Well it's done and I must admit I am very disappointed with the way the staining went. I was hoping for more of a clear layered look, like something that has years of coats of oil build-up. At least I know for next time to do a bit more research into stains before grabbing a color I like, without knowing the stain. This one is a minwax and it went on opaque, I now know that the next stain will come from the can tinted but clear........Well now I'm done whining!
