| | Celtic spoon in prog***DONE*** Thought I'd post a little project I've been working on for the past week. This is the spoon I was working on when I stabbed myself in the thigh....ouch!. I wanted a more intricate celtic knotwork pattern to go from but this is what I settled on, next one will have more knotwork. I used a chunk of birch from my woodpile for this piece. Critiques and advice most welcome.

| | Re: Celtic spoon in prog WOW that is quite a project you picked. How long is it? How thick is it? I bought a spoon carving book, but she doesnt explain how to get into the corners with the knife.. or I'm just not getting it.
This is going to be beautiful when your done.. I am going to sit back and watch your progress. Maybe I'll learn how from watching you. |

| | Re: Celtic spoon in prog I have a book called "Swedish Carving Techniques" by Wille Sundqvist, He details how to carve spoons, and decorate them. This one is 16" long and the handle is a inch thick so far. I used a carving hook I got given to me for the bowl of the spoon. This one will be a wall hanger.....no intentions of using it.
