| | Re: Celtic knotwork bench Thanks wood whittler for your comment. I do my own woodworking, but I am seriously lacking in fine woodworking skills. My joints are not tight, and I use very easy joinery. The screws are countersunk and have pegs over them at least.
Also, I actually have about 12 ornaments ready, but I thought I might try to make some really special ones that are something I would be a little more pleased to send to other woodcarvers. I'm working on some now.

| | Re: Celtic knotwork bench Thor....I love the bench, the knot work is great. Don't knock it, your joinery work is much better than anything I've been able to do! Might I offer a suggestion? The carved knot work, if you paint/stain it a color that would compliment the rest of the bench, it would stand out more. To me, it blends in to the bench so much, where it should be made more noticable. Just an alternative for you, please, not any form of criticism, cause your work is splendid.

| | Re: Celtic knotwork bench Bob's right, it looks great like it is, but a contrast would bring a lot of life to it! Maybe the background area white and leave the knot and the rest of the bench green. Or the bench green, the cut-away background white, and the knot red. Or leave it like it is--it looks great!

| | Re: Celtic knotwork bench Oh Jeeez! Good Woman! That is to die for .... I think I might have to have a grocery store tantrum over that one.
Beautiful carving and just wonderful joinery. I love the wood spirit pin, what creativity.

| | Re: Celtic knotwork bench Thor- I love the bench but I have to agree with Bob & Wade about the contrast. It's hard for me to really see the knot work that well due to blending in. Great work though. Ron |

| | Re: Celtic knotwork bench Thor-from your post i am not sure if you are happy with screws and plugs?
you might want to consider pocket holes and screws, which are usually used on the inside and are not notiable.

| | Re: Celtic knotwork bench You could also use a mortise and tenon joint. The joint you used on the bottom stringer is a nice joint but maybe it would look better if it had some simular ones elsewhere. Just a suggestion. Ron |
