Default Celtic chip carved cross.

This is the pattern I used.

This one is one I made awhile back. I used a pickled finish on this one.

This is the one I finished today.

Which one works the best for you?

They both look good, but I like the darker one the best.By the way, what's a pickled finish? I don't know what most of the terms are that people use here so I'm going to start asking. I just carve!

Sharon, It's kind of like a white wash. A very thin paint that lets the grain show thru. I hope that helps.

Thanks, it does. The more I look at the crosses, the more I like the pickled finish also. they're both so different, why compare to each other? Each would look beautiful in different situations. Really admire your work.

Thanks Gene! As my mom used to say "it keeps me out of the pool room". Now I don't know what the pool is all about but I would guess trouble. LOL!!

I'm really new to all of this, but that is really a beautiful pattern. I think I like the darker one the best ... did you use a wood burner on it?

No twig I didn't use a woodburner on this. I achieved this with stippling and staining.

I like them both but for different reasons. I like the width and depth of the cuts in the first one but I prefer the darker finish on the second one. If you combined the two it would be fabulous, in my opinion.
