Curly,

I doubt some of that but sounds like a great memory .

I don't often do this, but This is a site i found that will show you what I mean. The mans work is really amazing and a fine example of what I ment.

http://sattlerartprint.com/iamcrow.html

Many of these would make unbelievable carvings , if permission could be received. But I know I hope one day to see the orginials.

Ash

Love this carving just the way he is. I am going to try a Native American bust for my next project and the web site also gave me great ideas as well.

That's one of the best Native face carvings I've seen, so realistic. It has inspired me to try one and have it look like no other.
I wouldn't touch it.

I appreciate the kind remarks, I am posting more poses taken of him and two of the walnut indian I spoke of. Some one had an old piece of walnut with waxed ends. I should have went further in detail but carving the walnut by hand - no power tools, was a chore and took much longer than basswood.

those are both excellent work.

are you going to leave the walnut piece natural?

??? on second look, does it have a finish on it already?

Tony, I believe I sprayed a coat of clear lacquer on that one, slight bit of shine - Earl

The necklace looks good on that walnut piece...well the whole carving looks good. I tried putting some long teeth/claws on a mountain man but it didn't turn our like yours. Yes I expect that walnut was a bugger on the hands with only tools, but its satisfying when its finished with blood and sweat.
