Another day another chacarature,
Loner
i stopped to make a couple knives and set them in handles, or thats what i did for a
change of pace and let my eyes rest from straining on these pee wee's,
dont let the size of the photo fool ya,
The nose is half the size of a grain of rice,(I hunted for one in the chips over an hour),
the problem wasnt the nose its the lighting, during carving as well as in the photographing of anything the perception of light & shadows plays a great deal.. so if your photos dont show you what you carved then move to the place you carved it and photograph it there.. the camera really dose show things you cant see normally even with my +3.00 walmart reading glasses.
Q: or problem.
i carve usually under a single bulb halogen desk lamp, im right handed, so the features on the right are relatively straight forward because the way the shadows are cast,
but doing the left side i catch my self rotating the carving round and round winding up carving it upside down and backwards to the way i carve the right side.
im wondering if i took another desk lamp and set it up on the left if it would keep me from spinning my carvings so much, or if it would just wash the carving area in too much light to see detail/shadows.
i'm asking this because im cheep i guess, i dont want to spend my allowance on a desk lamp, heck thats the price a flexcut palm chisel i need!,....
NOTE: the little guy is shown before i try to highlight the details with my wood burner in case i mess up with that great big ole p2 details tip...
(
im going to try pictrail image import, here goes.) hum pics are still a little big...

or this
link Small details, the head is under 10mm.
face alone is less than 1/4" long under hat, a single movement of my knife sideways and the previous nose jumped to the floor in a pile of shavings,
never the less i recieved the face and think i still got the pouty lipped distraught look on this pee wee's face i wanted.
we'll call him loner
