Default Re: "Carved Garden Chair" - WCI issue # 38

It was my pleasure entirely in getting to review your amazing adventures. You have lived your life by principles that I have always aspired to but never quite had the get up & go to . . . well, get UP and GO do. My next door neighbors growing up (in Mass.) were avid hikers and took me along on a few occassions to the White Mtns of NH for hikes and climbs of the Presidentials. LOVED it! But then I ended up with a bad back and allowed that (and getting married and having children) to become an excuse from being as active as I'd always imagined I'd be. Meanwhile my friend Rick went on to be a hutmaster for the AMC (Carter Notch), Quartermaster at Pinkham Notch, worked for a couple seasons in Antarctica, etc. I really admire the path you have followed in your life and I wish I was a better example for my children in this regard.

Anyway, if you are ever back up in the area you are welcome to come & stay and enjoy a respite from the trail. There is a Pizza place right there in Ft. Montgomery but I've never been there. We are partial to our own town's Prima Pizza (they deliver all over the US btw - and their Veggie pizza is FABULOUS). In any case, let me know if you will ever be in the area and need a place to stay or just take a break from the trail.

Now for the CARVING related content. ;-) I agree with your comment about likeing practical items that have a use. Given the area I am in I am hoping to develop a small carving business for hiking staves and walking sticks. Now I'll have to think about adding garden furniture. Love Jan's design for these chairs.

Cheers!
Chuck
