Default a bunch of WIP's

Hello All,
I have been super busy here lately. Here are 8 carvings started and not finished yet. 2 Indians, 3 Wood spirits, one chainsaw style bear, one civil war guy (mabye), and one I'm not sure about yet, hehe. Anyway I spent last Friday thru Monday staying near Piegon Forge. Went to see Mac Prophitt @ Smokey Mountian WoodCarvers a couple of times and spent too much money there! they ae super people! Also signed up to take a seminar in September from Jeff Phares! (Whoo-hoo!!) It will be the first seminar I have ever been able to go to.

Also I started a Woodcarving club here in Decatur, I belong to one in Huntsville, that meets once a month. Soem of the carvers live here in Decatur, and I have about 9 people signed up so far, mostly new carvers. Our club will meet the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, and carving will be the focus. We are having our 2nd meeting this Saturday and a couple of the carvers want me to show them how I carve faces, so I am preparing to do that for all who want to. Boy am I having fun or what! I love carving.
Also while at Mac's place I met a carver who has a shop in Mac's complex that carves found wood like I do, but a whole lot better and bigger. Most of what I saw were Indians and Woodspirits. He is an up and coming carver and I wxpect to see his name become more known. His name is Billy Reynolds. I spent abot 1-1/2 hours taling carving with him.
Sorry for the long post, but I had a lot to say for once, hehe
Thanks for looking and for your comments!
GaryMc

Your photo shot is a real tease. I know your still finishing them up but I always like seeing the carvings at the different stages. My eyes just can't focus that well. Please post when finished.

Sounds like you're enjoying yourself! Great beginnings on those in the picture, hope you get to finish them eventually and show us as well.

Thumbs up Re: a bunch of WIP's

Great that you found time in such a busy world to post these WIP's GaryMc... ALL 8 OF THEM!!! Holy-Moley did you say "eight" all at once? Now that's what I'm talkin' about!! I love your energy, I love your enthusiasm, and I love your work. Thank's for touching base with us here!

Perhap's I'll start a carving club around my neck of the woods one day soon when I leave paid employment (I hate the "R" word!) but for now you folk's are all I have. Great job on taking the initiative to get something going!

Gary nice carvings looks like you have lots of work to complete. I am glad I am not the only one that has all those unfinished carvings laying around. I took my one and only course years ago with Jeff when he was here in Canada. You will learn lots from him he is a wonderful carver and a great teacher.

Hello Art,
The price for a three day seminar is $225.00, and includes a basswood blank. i nver have met him so I don't know about where he will go. but I imagine if the money right he will go about anywhere, I know I wold in his shoes.

Gary . We hope you had a great time and hope to see you again next year .
Jeff teaches all over the country and his rates very because of airfare and does include the blank of green Butternut unless the person hosting the class makes changes to the usual .
