Hi Greg, I think your elk turned out really well and I love the feeling you portray. There is one thing that is distracting my eyes and it might be it's just light reflection. The light dots going up the viewer's left side of the tree and continuing behind the tree. Maybe at a different angle or in natural light this would not show. Please accept my observation as my opinion only and not meant to take away from some good relief work.
Kathy

Hi_Ho_Silver, I cut the large limb off and let the little limb go in front of the elk but you are right, still looks a little funny. Next try I need to just get rid of that limb!

Mottles, No offense here! I love the feedback and the comments. I believe the dots are the reflection of the flash in the varnish. Let's see how the outside picture turns out.

Again, I love feedback so let it fly!

Beautiful job. Lots of character. What are the full dimensions? It looks like a big project!

Greg, outstanding!! I've been so busy lately that I'm way behind on all the posts, it was great fun reading this one from start to finish and seeing your drawing 'come to life'.

I've been meaning to do a relief carving, even have a nice piece of butternut waiting for me, you've definitely inspired me!! Thanks for sharing your work in progress, it's beautiful!! Deborah
