Default bogoak-what is it?

Hi, friends!
I work in an interesting material- bogoak ~4000 years old.shapes are often so improbable that the material does not require too much interference sculptor...simply do not ruin it here some photos of bogwood excavated from wetlands.(photos of sculptures I publish in the gallery)

I have seen this before from somebody in Ireland . I understand this is wood been submerged for hundred of years in Wetlands ,it can be any kind but the Hardwoods are more beautiful and as you said it sometimes needs very little to make it look interesting and beautiful.

Hi, Mieto, here on the west coast of the USA, we find pieces of driftwood that is very hard and dense. We call them sinkers, because they have been buried in the mud, when it rains and the rivers get flowing good it will wash them up on the stream banks.I bet it's about the same thing.I love to carve this kind of wood.

I have a turned bowl, purchased in New Zealand, that is "swamp Kauri" - It is wood retrieved from bogs that has been submerged for long periods, in this case 6000 years!

Hi Mieto, I don't know how I missed them but I just looked at your pictures in the gallery. Fantastic work! I love the expressions you have captured in your carvings.

That material look interesting, how do you work it? I assume you power carve it? You have done some magnificant work, and the material has an amaizing finish to it.
