Well Alfredo,, I',m going to try to make a beautiful shell,This one is fairly small,,I'll see what I can do. The largest I've made is 4 ft diameter ,2 ft deep for a corner cabinet, this , though smaller presents it's own challenges,,I hope you like it,,I know you were interested,, if you like I'll post these pictures as well as some others I have,,,let me know.

This is how far I got this morning. The shell is mostly finished, and now I'm doing the rest of the leaves and the little "flower" sort of things,,the one on the left is pretty close. The shell and leaf design is only about 10 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. The total thickness of this carving is a bit over I/2 inch. I should have this done today.

Here are just a few of the other shells I have done, you might have seen some of these on my site. The bigger shells range from 2 to 4 ft in diameter as seen in the cabinet type installations,,others are for range hoods, valances for desks/coffee tables, some are in kitchen cabinet doors and door pulls, as well as this installation in a fireplace. These shells, as well as the leaves in combinations are really handy to use in a variety of places.Fun to do as well

The only way I do anything is by comm.As far as a list goes,,I'm pretty well booked for the rest of the year.I had started out like you,, a bird carver,,did that as a hobby, competed ,had a "real" job, then went full time carving architectural ,private and church work. It's worked well enough my wife was able to stay at home with the kids.Very rarely do birds anymore,,but I do have a Golden to do .I haven't had a chance to look back,,been busy since day one,and there is just more work on the horizon. I don't really know what to do or where to go if I just made stuff and then tried to sell it.. for me this works out great,,buy a ticket ,, get in line,,do the job.The variety keeps it interesting and challenging,, I tend to get bored easily,, there are too many things I want to and like to carve. This gives me that opportunity,,and get paid for it.I call it a WIN!

Mark, I am glad to see another carver making a living at what they love!! I've been doing this for about 27yrs. and have'nt regretted a single moment. I only do about 5 shows a year now and I can pick and choose which ones. I to have enough work to last for awhile. I started doing these seminars and love every minute of it. I have the freedom to hunt myRedtail (falconry) pretty much anytime I want. It's a great life and alot of fun!!
