Default Bison Skull

Greetings All,
I just finished my 3rd project, a bison skull.
I really like carving wood to look like bone, it really lends itself to that material.
I can see more of the same coming!
I'm still going back and forth on how I want to mount it, but I really wanted to get your feedback on it as it stands.
Please excuse the picture quality.
Thanks and blessings,
James

Hi James I think it turned out great! I see you figured out the black horns. how big is it? you could carve an indian sheld and mount it on it.

Thanks James! I made it out of a 4"x4"x6" piece of basswood.
Yes, one way I thought to mount it would be on something like a shield on the wall with feathers hanging off of it but I think I want a more southwestern look with a touch of class if you know what I mean.
I'm thinking of making a base out of cherry and displaying it on a coffee table.
I thought of placing it on a slab of stone or on a piece of leather too. I have so many ideas, that I have to give it a rest!
Thanks for your comments and your help!

Thanks Scott,
Actually Tom helped me with the horn finish as I noticed he had recently done some horns exactly as I planned to in regards to the black section.
I just used acrylic white with a little brown and went over it with a wash of acrylic black.
I played with it a lot and added gloss and took it off and added more black to tone down the white some more and rubbed it in with my fingers but in the end it came out exactly how i wanted it too.
Thanks for your comments
James

Good job, very nicely done. I don't think it matters what you mount it on, it will steal the show anyway. Joe.

Thank you Josef.
The bandaids on my fingers might steal the show though!
This one really beat me up for some reason. I was actually starting to feel afraid as I sat down to carve!
I ride a motorcyle and I don't get that way.
This hobby is dangerous!
Thanks again for you kind remarks....
James

Great job James, It looks so realistic. I can see how you would have a lot of options for a way to display it.

Very Cool, Tom
