Hi Bonnie,

Thank you for the compliments. I guess it was just one of those frustrating beyond belief days. Now that I recovered, I'm going to do the second one. Just bought a new bandsaw blade today so I can cut it out. The first one was carved by power and hand from a scrap like the one in the third picture. Trying to reduce the frustration.

Hi Merle,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I can see where it threw everyone off. "Bird Hair", since when.

Hi Ron! I just wanted to tell you that I finally saw that movie...loved it! I can see why you wanted to make one! What inspiration!!! I caught myself thinking..."dangit...I bet I could carve one of those!!!" Then I thought...wait a miiiinuuute! thats the bird from the movie Ron was talking about!!!! You did a great job! I think I may try one out of Locust-that way I could try the spiral pattern. Do you remember the hair pin the jade Emperor as waerring? Tha dragon? that's what I am attempting now. Thanx for the great idea!!! loves!

Hi Keoma. I'm glad you saw and liked the movie. You can see why we carvers would be moved by that hair stick.

I think it would be awesome for you to make one with the spiral. I started a second one bu it's sitting unfinished.

That dragon stick should be really nice. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Thank you for resurrecting this thread. I had forgotten about Meipo's balls in the stick, "castles in the hair." I may try one.

Hi rz. This would be right up your alley. The bird is something you can modify in countless ways.
