Default Bible & Praying Hands

I carved these after Christmas as a tribute to a lady at my church. The Bible is a slab of mahogany and the hands are actually models of her hands. The hands are of basswood and all of it is finished with a polyurethane spray to protect. The hands are actually attached with screws through the bottom of the Bible.

That's a nice tribute you made Phil. I'll bet the lady is pleased. I've never carved hands that large, I have too much trouble with the small ones.

I appreciate the kind words. It started out as a commission, but ended up as a gift to the church in a wing dedicated to this very giving couple. It really blessed me a lot.

I have appreciated this carving since the forst time I saw it.
An excellent thought!

Would you mind sharing how you got the gold lettering on the mahogany?
