| | Re: Believe it or not Sure is good to hear of a medical success for you. Doing away with pain frees up the soul to be more creative and productive. I guess it gives you a whole new set of goals to go with your recuperation process too.
I wish you continued strength and enthusiasm to enjoy being active.

| | Re: Believe it or not Cliff, I was "off" for a few days - it is good to hear that your surgery went well and that you are felling better. Take it easy and enjoy some quiet time carving (yes, stay out of momma's way, there is always something on the honey do list what you could do sitting......) Fred & Hana |

| | Re: Believe it or not Once again, "THANKS TO ALL" that made coments and wished me a speedy recovery. It's so great to have met so many guys and gals that I probably never meet and yet here we are, friends so to speak. You know, it's been a week now since the surgery and by golly, I'm amazed at how quickly this thing has progressed. I would recomend it to anyone to have this procedure, as someone mentioned "I am literally pain free as a result". Not to say there is no discompfort at the moment but in time that will pass. It's onward and upward for me and once again "thank you all" Now if I can just stop cuttin my fingers I'm gonna do me some carvin, and yes, I have thumb gaurd and glove, but dang, I'm only gonna make a couple cuts, one of them usually to my thumb. (smile)

| | Re: Believe it or not cliff,
word or 2 on cut thumbs.
there are things like bandaids for them times... when you are going to make a cut without protection,
pete leclair, in one of his books mentioned putting a covering of masking tape on his thumb and fingers, other carvers follow his lead.
i have used 3M Vetrap like shown on the bottom of the page on this link
or walmart sports wrap. its a self stick wrap that only sticks to its self and comes in a viriaty of wigths and colors,
its not knife proof but beats having to heal up.. |

i bought my own box of bandaids, it saved me lots of emergency room visits for little cuts and therfore at $300 plus for them visits and a hundred dollars a stich
i dont even let her know im cut unless its bad, becuse she freaks out and wants to play big bag momma the ambulance driver,, ha!
guess she means well.
but i wear my protection as much as i can, usually i only make no power cuts you know at first where your hogging off as much as the knife will take,
i found out smaller chips give a more controlled cut with less chipping out or breakage
