| | Re: Back from Davenport, IA. Apparently my statement is true,,you never know who is reading these posts.Comments I had made concerning the carving of the Maestro piece were responded to by Hana Zavadil,,Freds wife. She has been very gracious and a pleasure to "meet".Sometimes I get it right. And I believe I was also right in saying "there are carvers out there who can blow your socks off" Well,,if you are not familiar with Freds work,( I have seen his work,,but didn't know who had done it) this carving will make complete sense once you see his other pieces.I encourage everyone to check out his site,,it took my breath away. Here is a self taught carver who learned his lessons well...WOW! www.fredzavadil.com
some amazing work!

| | Re: Back from Davenport, IA. We featured Fred's work in Fall 2005 (Issue 32) and just showed and update on one of his pieces in the Summer 2007 Issue. Hannah and Fred are both delightful to talk to!

My wife and I were visiting our kids in Ia. the week of the show. Saw an ad in the paper and thought of going and didn't. Sure wish we would have.

| | Re: Back from Davenport, IA. Hey Bob,,I'm out of the loop,,one of these days I'll get up to speed,,sorry. But for anyone else out there who missed the articles,(besides me obviously),check out the site. I think one thing it's missing is a warning label such as,,may cause shortness of breath and heart palpitations...I have a feeling part of his self teaching included studying the Masters,,,don't know what gives me that notion... |

| | Re: Back from Davenport, IA. Fred's piece was outstanding and so was Cogelow's and Vic Hood's. They were all breath taking. Lynn, we liked cowboy squatting by the fire too, hope he had his spurs off. It was a particular pleasure meeting Mark Gargac, Mike Merriman, and Lat but not least Bill Hall. |

| | Re: Back from Davenport, IA. Oh they certainly were,as I had stated earlier. And congratulations as well to all who entered and especially to those who won! I guess I was just a bit startled at the response I received after commenting on one in particular,,just caught me a bit off guard...Who knew? A bright spot in an otherwise "nothing going right" kind of day for me,,that I unwittingly made someone elses day a bit brighter for them.I call that a win-win.
