| | Re: Back to carving ships! On something this small, progress isn't all that apparent until you look closely. The head/bow has had work and the channels have been constructed and installed. The channels are those sticks along the sides of the ship that hold the shrouds which hold the masts upright. Like spreaders.
Please feel free to ask questions of anything that you see but may not understand. I'll try to explain things as best I can.
Enjoy,

| | Re: Back to carving ships! I continue with small steps of progress. Carved and installed the ships boat, and a couple of lockers next to the galley, and some pinrail for the running rigging, as well as shaped and installed the timberheads for the anchor bits. The crewman is there for scale.

You do some exceptional work! It's always fun watching one of your projects evolve. I really liked seeing how you do the water.

| | Re: Back to carving ships! Been tacking a task that is a "reach" for me, in this scale. Carving a ships wheel. Been thinking about how to do it for a week, and a dozen drawings, so I finally jumped in and went to work.
The pictures will explain, better than I can, why it was such a challenge.
I'm very happy with the results.
Bob
ps: the wheel rim is steam bent Mahogany, the spokes are Afermosia and the bracket is Mahogany. Best of all ....... it actually turns. |
