Default Another Update on the Bass

Here's the latest progress on this critter. The fins have been attached and fitted, the eyes inserted and contoured in, the working mount put in the mouth and the sealer, primer and gesso applied.

The 1/4" rod in the mouth allows me to rotate the body a full 360 in both the horizontal and longitudinal axis. Makes it easier to paint.

I prime and paint right over the eyes and then scrape the paint from the glass with a copper blade shaped and sharpened to a #10 Xacto profile. It will easilly scrape the paint off, but the copper is softer than the glass used in the eyes, so it won't scratch the eye.

Told ya I was slow!
Al

Thats going to be outstanding when its finished and painted! You can send it to me immediately after you finish it! As to painting the eyes, never tried that with copper? I usually just put a piece of that blue painters tape over the eye, do what I have to do and peel it off.....whole lot easier.....and ahummmm....I like it easy LOL

Thanks, Dave! That liquid friskett works pretty well, too, but I still like the paint and scrape approach.
