Excellent piece Gary. I am sure whatever you do with the eyes, it will be great.
A lot of the old master did nothing to the eyes, they left them like you have yours but then, There is a blank look about those pieces.

Personally, I would not hollow out the pupil but would outline the iris and pupil with a gouge.

very good carving , i think painting makes the carving come to life .....but on this one I think natural would be for me.

The "ayes" have it, carve in the pupils to make your wonderful carving dance a gig.

Wow, Great comments everyone. Well, I have finished the Mt. man, I did carve out the pupil. I had in mine carving out the pupil and leaving a light, but bark being bark I had a problem with the light, so I cut them out. He turned out well I think. I will post pictures of the finished piece tomorrow. Thanks again folks!
