Looking good so far. That one is going to take quite a bit of work to complete, but from the start you have, looks like it will be well worth the effort. Thanks for sharing your work!

| | Re: Another N.A. Indian...WIP Slow progress. Up to here, I've merely deepened the hair masses, choker and choker tie, etc. Also visible now, are the shoulders and warbonnet, extended lower down behind his shoulder. You can see the position where the arm sockets would be and if you notice the V-shaped mark front and center at the bottom of the chest, that will be the lowest point at which the body of the bust will terminate.
My next step will be to prepare the headdress for the shaping of the top side of the feathers. Also, I will need to outline the bottom edge of the Indian's
chest as it will be portrayed on the bust.
Sorry about the blurriness of the first picture. I just can't seem to hold the camera steady sometimes. Continued later...

| | Re: Another N.A. Indian...WIP Thats looking real good so far. you sure do have a lot of detail work ahead of you. I just got done with the rough out on the coker on mine and it was a very slow going for me but I have not been carvig very long so it takes me a while to figure things out. I know That I could use a curved blade knife. Keep the chips flying. Vince
PS there is a pic on here (same ole stuff) Of the choker rough out

| | Re: Another N.A. Indian...WIP I'm beginning to shape the headdress feathers now and have defined the bottom edge of the chest as it will be. At this point, some work has been done on shaping and detailing the necklace. It seems like I'm continually tweeking facial details and probably will be throughout .
North Wind - I checked out your choker and it looks great !!! I just hope that mine turns out that good.
I apologize for the blurry first picture. I guess I need to get a tripod. More to follow...

| | Re: Another N.A. Indian...WIP Hey Mike, WOW. That big block of wood you started out with really had me guessing, now that I see the headress it makes a whole lot of sense. You are comming along beautifully and I really like it so far. Tell me, will you hollow out the back some?

| | Re: Another N.A. Indian...WIP Thanks Cliff. Yes, I plan to hollow out the back, although I'm not particularly looking forward to it for obvious reasons. Once I get it hollowed out, I can detail the back, including the underside feathering, headress skullcap, and hair. I appreciate your interest.
