| | Angel memorial to a child Hi Gang,
Dont fall over yes it is me and I know I havent posted in a long while. It was over something insignificant and now I realize how silly people can get with hurt feelings I am over it and I am posting again.
On Saturday Bob (Bobs Birds) took a road trip to another friend of ours to do some chainsaw carving. Robbin is an amazing artist and he invited us down for a complete day of carving and fellowship. It was an fabulous time four of us attended I am sure you have all read about it on Bobs post. They all carved owls but I had been asked to do a memorial for a neighbor who had lost their small son some years ago. They have had two children since but thought that it would be nice to do a memorial to him in their garden. So I started the angel with Robbins help. This is a sleeping child angel with his head resting on his arms. The carving is in Spalted Sugar Maple the wood was so beautiful in its natural state that I hated to carve it. Sugar maple it hard and heavy this I would say had been sitting for about four years. I dont like doing memorials because I am always scared that I wont get it right. This is a very rough stage at the moment. The carving is about three feet long by just over two feet highand about a foot in thickness. Not sure how much I will get done this week but will post when it is further along |

| | Re: Angel memorial to a child Colin, welcome home. I hope it was not me that ticked you off. I do like your memorial, looks like it's gonna be a beauty when finished. Hope all is well with you and the family. I saw Bobs owl, WOW, sure like that one, I told him it would look good sitting on the banks of the mighty Grand River.

| | Re: Angel memorial to a child Well you old coot ! About time !
My friend welcome back , I was speaking bad about you today ! LOL
Colin , we often talk about stepping out of the box and seeing more than just the world we are so use to. You my friend are living out there right now and the work you are doing proves that.
Sounds like an amazing weekend , and what a beautiful carving you are doing. Please keep posting progress photos, I never have a lot of time right now , but I do not what to miss this one.
I told Ron I talked to you Friday , were talking about comming up to see you. Getting passports and everything. Now that would be a trip , two dogs and a blind man . LOL
Going to be a great piece and you will do it justice I have no doubt.

| | Re: Angel memorial to a child Hi Collin, glad to see ya back! I love your angel, it is looking really good. That is also wonderful . I know two young couples here that lost babies in the last two months, I might have to think about carving a couple of those myself.
