| | I am on carving #4 Another beautiful day so back to the tree. Still up two sections of scaffold but I am almost there. Here are some pictures of Carving #4 roughed out and then with some detail. Also pictures of two of the other carvings now with their first coat of stain. I dont think I showed you the second carving completed, maybe I did at any rate here are some more pictures. Only one more to go maybe tomorrow. BTW in carving # 4 you will notice that I really put in an extra face at the end of this guys beard so actually there will be 6 carvings in this tree.

| | Re: I am on carving #4 Sheri,
I am sorry maybe I should have kept this all on one post it started out with a post on this category under "Largest Tree Carving Ever" and then I went to new threads for carvings 2,3 and 4. Just to update this thread the tree is approximately 15 maybe 16 feet tall and about three feet across maybe a little larger. The customer called me after a terrible storm we had this tree was uprooted and fell onto his house. We now believe that it was a Tornado that pulled this tree out of the ground. There were three huge tree all in a line about five miles apart that were uprooted. The client brought in an excavator and had the stump replanted. Then called me and commissioned me to carve five faces into the tree. The final face will be a female that I will be starting next week. You can see by the pictures that I am up two sections of scaffold to carve this. I use what ever I need to carve the tree. I start out with a chainsaw and then switch to hammer and chisels for the finishing. Tree's are what I do although I have been known to carve canes and santa's as well especially when the weather in Canada gets cold

| | Re: I am on carving #4 I took Ron's advice and visited your site. Your carvings are incredible! I love woodspirits, they make the most fascinating carvings. Haven't tried one yet as I am only a beginner but after visiting your site I am anxious to try. Thank you for the info. I can't wait to see the entire finished carving.
