oh so very lovely, yes childrensbook style comes to mind, in a very positive meaning. evokes so good emotion , just love it... as your question, stain or natural, i think both would be good, and is purely taste question. if you have access to paintprogram in computer, try color it there a little like a stain would do, and then you have a visble you ca decide on... frame? yes, if i could i would frame too, the carving is so great it deserves a frame

What a beauty!

I wouldn't presume to tell you how to finish it. You have such a sure touch with your design and carving I am sure any choice you make will enhance it. The scene reminds me very much of the town of Vitre in Brittany, especially after a drop of the local cider.

Keep up the good work

Your scene brought a smile to my face. Lovely concept and great execution. To stain or not is just personal preference. To decide on a frame you might take it to a hobby shop and just try a few different styles of frames to see if you like the result and then go to a framer and get a good frame if you choose that route.

The scene is from the movie Van Helsing. It is the village where the vampires attack, if anyone has seen the movie.

Great work Deborah!! At least you captured the village before it was destroyed by those vamps

As for the framing, I agree that it should be floated with a frame that ensures contrast and draws the viewer into the piece.

On the subject of stain...I would ask yourself if there is a shade of stain that would better allow you to achieve the feel you are trying to obtain (i.e. eerie)
