Default 4 1/2" Jeff Phares Indian

Here is my second attempt at a Jeff Phares indian. I'm pretty sure that this would not qualify as a minature but it only measures 4 1/2" tall. I definitely have respect for those of you who try to carve smaller pieces with lots of detail. I will be painting the wolf tonight and will finish it with BLO and wax.

Not bad for 4 1/2" tall Blake. I always enjoy seeing carvings done from the same pattern by different carvers. Keep up the good work.

Mr. Phare's original looked very much like the subject was doing a classic 'stone face', where he gives away nothing at all.

Yours has a little more life, and looks (to me, anyway) like he is supremely ticked off about something. I looked at the first thumbnail and positively cringed when I met his glare.

Good job.

I you had made it 3 in tall x 2in square and a 5/8 down thru the longways, that would have made a great cane segment!!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the comments and suggestions. Hi Ho, I will take that into consideration. I never thought about doing a cane segment that way. That may be my next project!

Thanks again!

Great job, I agree with the comment that you should try it a little smaller and make it a cane topper!

Nice work.

Here's the finished piece. It actually turned out better than I thought it would although I believe I still need some work on my wolf cape. Anyway, thanks for looking!!

Good Job Blake, Keep it up, we all get better with each carving. We learn and start to see things in our carvings that we never saw before.
