Default 2nd attempt

This is my 2nd attempt in the carving world. Tryed for a Native american but came up a little short, wife says it looks like Jay Leno...lol and i'm inclined to agree.
Not sure of the wood type, it's found wood, but once it was dry it's got some beautiful black markings on it, probably a fungs. But all in all it makes a great walking stick and is sturdy as all get out.
Sorry for the poor quality of photo but the lighting shinks in here.

Looking good Greywolf...and only your second attempt! Like the carvers told me when I first came on line "keep practicing".

Good start Greywolf......Patrick is correct, the only way to improve is to practice, practice, practice! Carve another face or three in your walking stick, leave a space for your hand hold though. You'll get the proportions down soon, and they wouldn't all look like Leno. Well done though, you have made a good beginning.

For a second try, you sure got the mouth and eyes in there. I still cover the mouth up with a beard... Nice job! Tom H
