| | 1st Woodspirit Since my Knee Surgery Well, It has been almost a month since I had a total right knee replacement and the boredom has got to me, so I got out the trusty chainsaw and blocked out a wood spirit in a hollow Basswood log that I have had hanging around. Saw felt OK, so armed with a good pair of gloves I continued to work off and on this week until, today I had it ready for a bit of Sikens.
Here is the result.

| | Re: 1st Woodspirit Since my Knee Surgery Great job Bob, though I would think carving something smaller on your lap, while sitting with your knee resting would be easier. Isn't a chain saw a bit much on the new knee? I suppose it's good therapy, but just worry. Bob |

| | Re: 1st Woodspirit Since my Knee Surgery Good Luck on the Knee replacement. Any thing that doesen't seem right have it looked into. Knee replacements are great when they work and not much fun when they don't. They are talking about pulling the replacement out and putting another in but I have to have my other leg done first and get that built back up for support before they replace the replacement. Request a doppler for blood clots. Carving has been my therapy and pain management. The wood spirits look great. As A wood carver you need to do yourself some walking sticks and canes.

| | Re: 1st Woodspirit Since my Knee Surgery Thanks for the advice Goody, I have done a lot of walking sticks, mostly in diamond willow in the past. The little hand tools scare me right now, what with the blood thinners and all. I am heading to my cottage next week and will get into some more woodspirits. I will post some pictures when I get back. The worst thing about a knee replacement I find is having to ride my bike everywhere because I can't drive for 6 weeks.
