Christine.........The Eskimos carve Faces in the Circle,but theirs other options.About 4-5 years ago,tried to carve up whale ribs,they need to be treaded for a long time before attemping to do a great job.Some people i know -their whale bone has been dried for 3-4 years.......No expert at this.Ended up carving whaling scenes on 5 Ribs,scrin-work.......Have a good Day.

Carve different faces like the ones on totem poles from the Northwest coast! seeing thiers whales in that area.

No Progress yet. I took off and went to Spain and Portugal for a few weeks and am just getting back into thinking about my whale bone. I think i will probably use power on it so I need to set up a work area outside. Hopefully I will get something started sometime this Summer.
Thank you everyone for all the great ideas. I've got a lot more to think about now.
