Default WATER SPLASHES

Hello This is woodcarver. I'm new to the group and anxious to get involved. I like to carve fish, marine mammels and water related stuff. I understand you cannot use "plastic" water splashes for competition; however, for display purposes I would like to try to make some. Any recommendations on technique, material, resources, etc? Thanks.

Hi Dennis if you can get hold of "wood carving" magazine ( a GMC publication) No.118 Jan/feb 2011 on page 50 there is a very good tutorial of a leaping trout complete with "water" feature made from resin. the water effect and carved trout are very good.
I can pm you the write up if you like but its pretty comprehensive

I know an artist in Kauai makes ocean waves with epoxy, first you have to make a master mold and then a latex cover and plaster mold covering, next pour epoxy in it. A note ...this is an expensive project and will need some experimenting. First time they did the model, it was not banded and they had a nice epoxy floor. As for color you would need a hole in the bottom in which you would pour your color which would reflex the color plus the color from your base.
