When gluing back a small area I use Elmers glue and put a small dot of super glue in the middle. It makes it stick fast, especially if you can't clamp the piece in place.

I've used CA glue about 1/2" inside the perimeter of two pieces of wood I wanted to glue together with wood glue everywhere else, press and hold for 60 seconds or so the CA (superglue) holds the pieces together while the wood glue dries overnight. Works really well for pieces that are hard to clamp, though I usually use medium CA glue because the thin stuff sets to quick for me.

What a super idea, never thought of that, I make a few toys each year and enter in our local Agricultural Show. that idea is priceless. I have plans for a Kenworth Prime Mover and large trailer. It will be carrying something I will carve.

There are a lot of small pieces to fiddle with and the super glue and yellow glue is tops.

Just remember.....when using carpenters glue it works best under pressure, i.e., clamped! Super glue might hold it in place but I doubt if it gives the other glue enough pressure to get the best bond.

That's where quick set epoxy, the 5 minute stuff excells. Bonds like crazy and fills voids with a super durable material. I see there is also a 1 minute epoxy but have yet to try that. Heck it takes me longer than that to mix the durn stuff.

Thanks for the advice Lynn and Al. Looks like epoxy and super glue might be the better option for those fiddly bits.
