| | A use for odd socks Hi gang,
I just thought I would share this little tip with you. If you are like me you usually end up with odd socks. Dont ask me where they go but at least every wash one goes missing. Now I wear only the white sports socks (How times have changed I wouldnt have dared wear them 30 years ago.) I put them all in a plastic bin along with the ones that get holes in them. Every once in a while I take and cut them in from the toe to the opening. They make the best shop rags and paint rags. I was just cutting up about ten of them today and thought I would share that tip.

| | Re: A use for odd socks I always love your posts' Colin because you always "sock it to us" like nobody else can!!!
I never save my socks for rags because I only wear those very, very short cut athletic socks made from coolmax and who'd have thought that I'd be wearing those 40 years ago?!? They're so little that they wouldn't make much of a rag so I have to resort to using my Thrift Store shirts (that's all of them!) when they finally wear out.

| | Re: A use for odd socks Another great use for an old sock... I'm sure a lot of us have seen the buckwheat-hull bags that you throw in the microwave for a few minutes and then apply to all your aches and pains. They work great - give you 15-20 minutes of good heat - but run $15-40 for one. Take an old sock - preferably a synthetic blend (they will retain they're shape better) and throw a lb. of rice in it - tie a knot and you've got a $1.50 version that works even better than the expensive ones (a moister heat).
I guess you could use popcorn...

| | Re: A use for odd socks You can't be too quick to cut up your socks though!
Sometimes the sock monster does not like them, and they are returned to me within the next few loads of laundry. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
