| | Re: Tool rack No problem. On the backing panel you can run a set of holes with close spacing, then you can just stick the pegs in wherever you want. Or lay out all your favorite tools on a panel, mark where the dividers go and put them there.Another way, and I did this for chisels of all shapes and sizes and it holds them well is: Take a strip of wood, say 2" wide 3/4 thick and as long as your panel. Drill 1 inch or 1 1/4 " holes spaced all along it, Then rip it lengthwise right down the middle of the holes, you;ll end up with 2 pieces , scalloped all along it. stick it in your drawer and the scallops will hold any shape handle and the 2nd strip ( under the shaft of the chisel) will keep the blades from banging together,,got more ideas, but this should get you going.
I'll post some shots if you need clarification |

| | Re: Tool rack Just walked into the shop and forgot the fourth idea I had for odd shaped handles.(I've used all of these by the way) . I had a bunch of the long triangular strips cut off a block before you turn it on a lathe and didn't throw them out, well if you just lay them in the drawer they automatically space your odd shaped chisels very well,a few drops of glue keeps them in place. You could also just cut up some of these triangular strips out of those odd bits of scrap you always seem to have around on a table saw. The advantage to the triangles is chips and dust is easy to blow out as opposed to regular dividers,,,,no corners to trap it. |
