Default Tip for all!

Here's a tip for new carvers, and ol' ones who tend to have memory issues. Purchase a small notebook that will fit into a shirt pocket. Each morning when you get dressed there are several items that you must be sure that you have in your pockets. Pocket knife, little notebook, and a pencil. Each time you log onto WCI message board, and read a good carving tip, write it in your little notebook. Each time you see something that would make a good carving get it in your little notebook. Now you just have to remember to read your little notebook on a regular basis. This might make a good New Years Resolution for me. I tend to forget these tips..

Thanks Tom,,I'll make a note of that! Now if I can only remember to have a note book handy.
More often than not ,especially when the kids were still at home,,I'd always grab the phone. Never having a note book handy I'd write their messages on any piece of wood or ply sitting close to me. I'd walk in the house ,,hand them a 2 X 4 or something with a number, name and a note on it to call back. I have quite a few memo type books buy 'em 6 at a time ,,walk in the house with it,,and it would disappear or I'd leave it there go back to the shop and I'm back at square one,,,my block of wood as a memo pad. Hey,,it's paper in it's basic form ,,right?

Great advice, Tom. I would add one more item....when you do something you like.... a paint color or detail, etc....write it in the book.
